Week 7 has been a little less hectic than the past two weeks, with trying to complete my culture site. However, it hasn’t been all that low-key. I’ve decided to do a module on installing and setting up i-tunes for i-Pod’s. I just recently got a new iPod and the ste-up was a bit different so I think it will be good for me to do a module on the process. I am using my blog as the format, and have begun my rough draft for the actualy module. I ahven’t posted it yet, though, as it is only a start and I still need to add diagrams.

Week 6 Progress
This week’s work on the culture site completed the project. I finalized my content, adding citations and minimal conent. I then embedded links and images within the project. All in all, a vey interesting week as far as learning to embed images…kind of fun really. I look forward to working on future projects.
Week 5 Progress
My progress on the culture site has been coming along. The bulk of the content is written and now I just need to go through and fine tune it all, add my citations, and complete the week 6 tasks before submiting it. It’s been actually pretty interesting to learn about Elion’s advancements in medicine.
Week 4 progress
My progress so far this week has been good. It started out a little slow because I had two midterms in other classes this week, so I got a latev start. I spent a lot of time Friday and Saturday doing my research, which turned out to be really benficial. All in all it ended up being a productive week and I am ready to move forward.
Interview
I have set-up an interview for Monday afternoon with my aunt, who is a nurse in Boston. As a nurse she’ll be able to explain to me the importance of the development of drugs for leukemia, and Elion’s general contributions to the field of medicine
Library Research
I spoke with Jane Nichols at the OSU Library on Friday afternoon, and she gave me some great tips for researching through the library. Some new resources I found were (I’m not blogrolling these because they aren’t websites but rather books, journals, etc. at the library that I’m going to go look through):
Journeys of women in science and engineering : no universal constants by Susan A. Ambrose
The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw
Extraordinary Women Scientists by Darlene Stille
History of Women in Science for Young People by Vivian Sheldon Epstein
Medical Marvels: the 100 Greatest Advances in Medicine by Eugene W. Straus and Alex Straus
Women Nobel PeacePrize Winners by Anita Price Davis
These are just a short list of several great resources I’ve found since starting my research. Ms. Nichols was very helpful in providing useful tips for my search.
